Obituary of Edna Barko

Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on January 30, 2014, in her 86th year. Daughter of the late Fred and Johanna Karpyshyn (Nee Macyshyn) of Garland, Manitoba. Wife of the late Mike Barko. Mother of son Robert Barko & wife Judith, daughter Linda Clarke & husband Wally, and daughter and caregiver Lori (Lu) Urquhart. Grandmother of Michael, Peter, Daniel, Michelle Rockbrune & her husband Dave, and the late Christopher Forsey. Great grandmother of Hailey and Emily Rockbrune. Beloved sister and best friend of Nellie Senyk & her niece Stephanie and son Brandon Strychowsky & Brittney. Dear sister of the late Mike Karpyshyn, his wife Joyce and their children Michael, Marian, Perry and Diane. Lu would like to personally thank: Family doctor - Dr. Kathy Go, the Emergency Staff at LHB (Dr. Chan), the Med/Surg Unit, Dr. Michelle Albert, Erin & Luanna, Monique, Ashleigh, Desiree, Darlene & all the other caring nurses that kept Mom comfortable. Many grateful thanks to the CCC Unit, Dr. Boskovic, the 2 Colleens, Lilly & all the other wonderful nurses that were there for support, comfort and kindness. As well as a huge thank you to Lu’s friends, coworkers & extended family for all their kindness, love and support & Mom’s dear friend Lynn. Edna was a proud member of the 50+ Movin’ & Groovin’ group at the COAA. She loved dancing! She also loved her garden, her garlic, her cats and her spring poppies. She will be sadly missed by family, friends and cherished cats.
