Obituary of Catherine Jean Taylor

Facing the end of her life with the same courage and dogged determination to always look on the bright side of every situation she encountered CATHERINE JEAN TAYLOR lost her final battle with cancer on June 30, 2014. A life well lived, is a joy forever Cathy will be sorely missed by her loving life partner and husband of almost 40 years, Neil Taylor and the two proudest achievements of their life together, daughters Courtney and Laura Taylor. Cathy was born in Toronto on December 17, 1954 to her loving parents Walter & Ada Hoffman who will also suffer the impact of their loss. She is survived by one of her two siblings, dear friend and brother Alan Hoffman and his wife Ann of Cobourg. She is predeceased by their eldest sister Susan Marie Hoffman, who was also a BFF. Cathy’s niece, Mary Dayman (nee Hoffman) and her husband Andrew and her nephew Karl Hoffman and his wife Wendy will also hold cherished memories of their aunt. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.” - Khalil Gibran, The Prophet Many co-workers and colleagues that Cathy touched during her 35-year career at Ernst & Young on Bay Street will feel her loss as well as the numerous friends she made in the equestrian community as she pursued her life-long love of horses and all four-legged creatures. While all those Cathy gave her unique gift of caring, compassion and support are too many to mention, of special note is family friend and her "adopted son" Florian Rrjoli. Cathy's boss at Ernst & Young, Chief Financial Officer and Partner Alan Smith summed up the way many people feel with these words: "Cathy, if I close my eyes, I can picture back in time 20 years ago and see you smiling and telling me about the girls and about the horses. You were always such a positive person and I'm sure you have relied on that to give you strength and courage these many years"
