Obituary of Frederick St. Clair Ashton

Passed away peacefully at his Oshawa residence in the Hillsdale Terraces on Monday June 4, 2012. Frederick was in his 104th year of life. He lived through the horse and buggy age, the great depression and became an active participant in the new technical age. Fred was always interested in radio and radio transmission. He kept the residents of his home village of Haydon ON. entertained with the news of the day on the only battery operated radio in the village. Fred taught himself electronics and owned and operated a successful radio and TV repair business in Toronto for many years. He is fondly remembered by his two children and their spouses; William (Penelope) and Marlene (James) Madore. Fred was predeceased by his wife of many years Reama Vivian Ashton (nee Bradley). He was also predeceased by one grandson, and one great grandson. He will be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren , eleven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and their children.

Service

Visitation will be held at the NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. Bowmanville, on Wednesday June 6, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday June 7, 2012 at 11 am. Interment Hampton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Salvation Army.
