Obituary of Edith Kingston

Edith Kingston

Sept. 6, 1921, ~ Sept. 26, 2024

Edith passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Thursday September 26, 2024, at the age of 103.  Beloved wife of George (deceased 2004) for 59 years.  Predeceased by her parents Frederick and Maude Godfrey, her sister Louisa Henderson (2023), and her sister-in-law Wanda Sinkey (2022).

Edith will be dearly missed by the Kuch girls Janet (goddaughter) and Karen, and by Nancy and Jim MacMaster.  She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephew Patricia, Kevin and Debbie, and also by her friends and her St Andrew’s Church family.

Edith was born in Bradford England and had a wonderful childhood in a loving family.  She served in the infantry (pay corps) during World War II.  During the war she met and married George, a Canadian Air Force Navigator, immigrating to Canada as a war bride in 1946.

Edith worked as a secretary/receptionist for AVRO and Labatt’s Brewing Co. and lived in Toronto, Malton, Wilmot Creek, and Season’s Retirement Home.

Thank you to the staff at Season’s Retirement Home for their wonderful care during the past 7 years and to the staff at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville during her final days.
