Obituary of Terry Jensen

It is with profound sadness that the family of Teresa “Terry” Jensen announce her passing on March 3, 2024 peacefully at her home.

Teresa was the beloved daughter of Barbara Nicks and the late Gary Tighe. She is deeply missed by her daughter Pamela Jensen and Pamela’s father, Fred Jensen as well as her cherished dog Sammy.

Teresa will be lovingly remembered by her Uncle and Aunt Robert and Nancy Watt, cousins Erica Comeau (Jason), daughter Robin, and Rennie Watt (Tracy) and children Ryker and Kaia. She is also sadly missed by her cousin Susan Freeman, her husband Doug and their children Nicole (Travis) and Natalie. Teresa was a loving Aunt to her niece Lynette Tighe (Justin) and son Aiden. She will also be missed by her many Tighe Cousins and their families.

Predeceased by her father Gary Tighe, her brother Peter Tighe, niece Laurie Tighe, Aunt and Uncle Betty and Tom Jones, Uncle James Watt and Aunt and Uncle Christena and Murray Tighe.

Teresa was raised in Bowmanville, Ontario before moving to Ottawa to raise a family. She will be missed greatly by her many friends and within the Ottawa community. Teresa was a dedicated civilian member of the Ottawa Police Service for over 30 years and was honoured with a salute following her passing. The family was deeply touched by this gesture and wishes to express their gratitude to the Ottawa Police Service for their support.

Teresa is remembered for her sense of humour and her infectious laugh, and for her natural ability to bring people together. She was a fierce defender of her family and dear friends. She was the person many people would go to for advice, and who you could rely on to tell you the truth even if it was hard to hear. Teresa was known for her mothering nature throughout her life, not just to her daughter, but her daughter’s friends and her colleagues who affectionately called her “Mama T”.

Teresa loved penguins, classic rock, books, crosswords, lounging by a pool on a sunny day and walks in Gatineau Park. It was a family tradition for Teresa and her family to hike King Mountain every Thanksgiving to watch the sunrise. Her daughter Pamela will endeavour to keep this tradition alive in her memory.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Teresa on Saturday June 22, 2024 at 11:00AM at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street, Bowmanville. There will be a service followed by a reception where sandwiches and refreshments will be available. Cremation has taken place.

Anyone who knew Teresa knew she loved bright colours. To honour Teresa’s memory, her family invites you to wear something bright to celebrate her life.

Donations in Teresa’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity that has a special personal meaning or connection.
