Obituary of Geraldine Lorraine Butterfield
It is with great sadness that the family of Gerry (Geraldine) Lorraine Butterfield announce her passing on October 31, 2023 at the age of 94 years old.
Born in 1929 at Chicago Memorial Hospital, Gerry is predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Frank, Joe and Ron. Gerry was married for 57 years to the love of her life Lorne Alyn Butterfield, who passed away peacefully in 2010. Mother of Douglas (Annette) and Gordon (Renate) and grandmother of Elizabeth (Adrian), Christopher (Maria), Patricia (Kyle), Matthew (Brittney), Michelle, Catherine, Michael and Anthony. Gerry was the great grandmother (GG as she was lovingly called) to Annabelle, Andrew, Ethan, Aleah, Jackson, Nolan, Holden, Sawyer and Sabine. She was also Auntie Gerry to Kathy (Colin), Nancy (Rudi), Frank Jr. and Ron Jr., and great aunt to Peter, Marc and Damian. Gerry and Lorne loved living at their country home in Tyrone and often hosted family and friends on their peaceful, sprawling property. They were closely involved with the Tyrone United Church community for many years and often volunteered whenever possible. Gerry had a giving and loving spirit and always had time for an in depth conversation about how you and your family were doing. She always took the time to get to know everyone in her community and everyone that knew her, loved her. Gerry was quietly a spiritual woman and her belief in her God's love was unwavering. She will be missed every day by her family and friends who loved her, her kind heart, wonderful smile and child like sense of humour. She led our family as the strong willed matriarch for many years with a kind word and a gentle nudge in the right direction.
