Doreen Bakker

1937 – 2023

Doreen (Derkje) Bakker passed away quietly on August 10^th, 2023, at home with her family by her side to be with her Lord and Saviour after a brave battle with cancer. 

Her strength and positive outlook were an inspiration. 

She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her family and many friends.

Beloved wife of the late Nick of almost 49 years of marriage and much-loved mother to Jannette (Paul), Doug, Nancy and Helen (Regis).  Oma to grandchildren Jeremy (Vanessa), Rachel, Adam (Amber), Ben, Jasper, Elliott and Antalya and Great-Oma to Arthur and Penelope.  Predeceased by her parents Hendrik Jan and Jantje Meima, brothers Jacob, Andy, Klaas and Piet.  Survived by her brother Derk (Roelie), sister Geertje Oosterhuis and sisters-in-law Trieni, Geertje, Sarah DeJong and Sadie Bakker.

Visitation will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Sunday August 13^th from 6 – 8 pm.  Funeral Service will be held at REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 130 Scugog Street Bowmanville on Monday August 14^th at 11 am.  Private Interment Bowmanville Cemetery.  Memorial Donations made to Knox Christian School or Durham Christian High School would be appreciated by the family.
