Velma Margaret Spry

(nee Armstrong)

Passed away at Victoria Manor, Lindsay on Sunday, July 23rd at the age of 98 years.

Dear mother of Catherine (Brian) Haick, Thomas (Cindy) Spry, Donald Spry and the late William Spry. Proud grandmother to Amanda Haick Everitt, Matthew Haick, Melinda Spry Presley and the late Michael Spry. Loving great grandmother to Addison, Frankie, Brennan, Sam and Joe.

Beloved wife of the late Earl B. Spry, and long time resident of Maple Grove, Velma was predeceased by all four of her siblings. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews. 

Velma enjoyed knitting, gardening and baking. She was well known for her wonderful custom cakes. 

She will be remembered lovingly by all who knew and cherished her. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Victoria Manor for all the wonderful, loving care and good times they gave Velma this past two years

Velma’s family is following her wishes of not having a funeral.  Velma will be cremated and placed beside her husband in Orono Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held from 2 – 4 pm on September 15, 2023, at the Royal Canadian Legion 109 King Street East Bowmanville, Ontario for family and friends.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society.
