Obituary of Paul Jensen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul David Jensen in his 79th year. Paul passed away peacefully with Cheryle and puppy Rocco by his side early on the morning of Friday May 19, 2023 at his home in Bowmanville. He is survived by wife Cheryle, daughter Carolyn and her husband Kevin Harper, grandson Owen and granddaughter Charlotte. He is pre-deceased by son Scott on March 8, 2023.

Paul was born January 12, 1944 and grew up in the Beaches area of Toronto. He was an avid sportsman playing hockey and fastball in the Beaches leagues in his early years, hockey to the Jr. C level and then Oldtimers hockey in Midland, Whitby and Ajax, ON.

He coached minor hockey and softball for many years in Whitby, ON.  Golf was his abiding passion being a member at Midland, Newcastle, Oshawa and Stonehenge golf clubs until a stroke in 2012 called an end to his favourite game.

He was a printer by trade starting as a typesetting apprentice after leaving high school and then owning his own business for more than 20 years.

Paul was put in palliative care at home November, 2022 and our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the excellent care given to him by his family Physician Dr. Elizabeth Ackloo, his palliative nurse Goldie Yu and his PSW Emily Stephenson.

Our family is following Paul’s wishes and he has been cremated and there will be no service. He will be laid to rest on the anniversary date of his meeting Cheryle, Thursday August 3, at St. Margaret’s-in-the-Pines Cemetary in the plot with his mother-in-law Jean Wattman, brother-in-law David Wattman and son Scott Jensen.

Those we love don’t go away.

They walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard, but always near,

So loved, so missed, so very dear.
