Obituary of Douglas Broome

Veteran WWII Navigator with the Royal Air Force Passed away peacefully, in his 91st year, on Sunday January 17, 2016, with his loving wife Violet Lambert by his side. Doug of Newcastle, formerly of Wilmot Creek, is predeceased by his wife Evelyn of 51 years, and daughters Judith Halovanic and Donna Broome. Doug leaves behind three children, Frances (Gary), James (Sandra), Carolyn (Alan), and 3 grandchildren, Danielle, Jaron, and Kalen. Doug will be sorely missed by his extended family, Wayne (Terry), Diane (Jack), Steve (Patti), Brenda (late David), Eleanor (Darrell), David, and the many grand children and great grandchildren. Doug also leaves two brothers, Ernest (England), and Robert (Australia). Doug was born in Grimsby, England where he joined the Royal Air Force in 1942. “Brushy” served as a navigator in WWII in his beloved Lancaster. Special thank you to Dr. Tony Stone for his many years of care and friendship, and Dr. Aubrey Kassirer and Lynn Small (RN) for the amazing care during Doug’s last journey.

Service

Visitation will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division Street North Bowmanville on Saturday January 23, 2016 from 10 - 11 am. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 11 am. Memorial Donations may be made to Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Foundation.
