Obituary of Shirley Elaine Tarr

On March 13, 2022 at Lakeridge Health Centre Shirley Tarr passed away after a five-year fight with Bladder cancer.

Predeceased by her Mother Lillian and Father Cecil Upshall and Step Sister Elsie Bursey. She leaves her husband John and son Christopher, Daughter in law Su and two grandsons Lucas and William. Three Sister in-laws, Diane & Don Mills, Karen Tarr & Greg McConnell, Sharon Tarr as well many Seventh Day Adventist church friends.  

Shirley grew up in Botwood Newfoundland. At age seven she was one of the many children at the time who contracted polio and had many years of braces and many foot surgeries before she had to re-learn how to walk. It was a defining moment in her life and  gave her the strength to always move forward.  After grade 9 Shirley moved to Oshawa to attend the Oshawa Missionary College later named Kingsway College. She remained in Ontario where she met her husband John Tarr whom she married and had a son, Christopher. She chose to move back to Oshawa due to her deep love of her time at Kingsway and connection to the community. She will be sincerely missed.

Church Service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1156 King Street East will be held on Saturday the 26th of March at 3:00. Interment will be in Kirkton Ontario cemetery at a later date.
