Obituary of Donald Charles Wilson

August 4, 1931 – December 1, 2021

Passed away peacefully at home with his family close by.

Husband to Anne (O’Reilly) for 66 years.  Father of Stephen (Joanne), Louie (deceased 2016), Catherine (Ken), Chris, Wendy (Kinsel) and Scott (Janis).  Grandfather of 8 and great-grandfather of 8.

Don was a long haul trucker and retired from I.F.S. after many accident free miles on the road.  In his younger days he drove stock car and was 1952 season champion at Pleasure Valley Race Track.  The family spent many summer and winter holidays at the cottage he built on Steenburg Lake near Bancroft.

Don turned 90 years old on August 4, 2021 at home in the company of family after a few months in hospital because of a hip fracture.  He was cared for by his wife with help from family and the wonderful care from caregivers and nurses of Community Care Bowmanville.  Special thanks to Toby, Brenda & Tammy and also Dr. J. Stewart, friends and neighbours at 330 King St. E.

A Celebration of Don’s life will be held in 2022.  Memorial Donations may be made to Durham Hospice, Clarington.
