Obituary of Irene Theresa Carey

In loving memory

Irene Carey, a long-time resident of Wilmot Creek (Clarington), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Wynfield Nursing Home (McLaughlin Bay).

Born on February 28, 1930 she grew up in Toronto. She was a long time employee of the Toronto Dominion Bank (Main Office) and loved her job very much.

Irene loved spending time with family, doing crafts, being active in the community, having a nice cold beer once in a while and going to the Casino for a good time. She had a smile that would light up a room.

She is survived by her sister Mary Kramp (James) and Sister In-law Ruth Carey-Stouffer. Deeply loved by her nephews and nieces: Father Gilbert Doddatto, Karen (Rick) Connell, Michael (Trudy) Carey, and Patrick (Janice) Carey. As well as her many great-nieces and nephews: Kristy, Tara, Robyn, Jason, Charlene, Amanda and Rhiannon.

Irene was predeceased by her parents Michael and Rennie Carey, Siblings Theresa (Gilbert) Doddatto, Charles Carey and James Carey.

We would like to thank Dr. Shaukat Hasan, all of the wonderful PSW’s, Nurses and staff of the McLaughlin Bay floor at the Wynfield Nursing home for taking amazing care of her in her final months. We are forever grateful for you all.

Visitation will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Monday October 4th, 2021 from 10 – 11 am.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at ST. JOSEPH’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 127 Liberty Street South at 11:30 am.  Interment Bowmanville Cemetery.
