Obituary of John G. Ellwood
ELLWOOD, John G. “Jack”, age 84, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Friday, December 21, 2018, with family at his side.
Beloved husband of 55 years of Doris Lefevre who predeceased him in 2011. Also predeceased in 2018 by special friend Joyce Hamlin. Jack is survived by his children; Susan Becker (Bryan), Kerry Jackson, and Bradley Ellwood (Summer); grandchildren, Amanda Becker, Brady & Taylor Jackson, Carleigh, Danielle, Zoe and Tatum Ellwood and one great granddaughter Mavis. Also survived by his special niece June Jones (Paul) to whom the family express their greatest appreciation. Jack was born on April 20, 1934 to John T. and Dorothy (Spuffard) Ellwood. He is predeceased by his siblings, June Buck (Martin), Douglas (Doreen), Rodney (Marjorie), and Dorothy Edmondson (Bill).
Jack was a member of Grenville Lodge for many years. He had been a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry for 62 years. He retired from the Toronto School Board in 1994 and he and Doris moved from Scarborough to their cottage on Lake Simcoe. There they enjoyed entertaining friends and family, making renovations to the property and watching the beautiful sunsets over the lake. They also enjoyed many winters in Clearwater, Florida at Ranch Mobile Home Park. In 2014 he moved to Seasons Retirement Home in Bowmanville.
As per his wishes there will be no service. Interment at Bowmanville Cemetery will take place at a later date.
