Obituary of Dick Cornelius Vooys

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1 Owner of D.C. Vooys Greenhouses Peacefully passed away and is now reunited with his children Tineke and John, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease, on Friday, March 25, 2016, at Fosterbrooke LTC in Newcastle, at age 84. Dick was born in Holland on February 12, 1932, and came to Canada in 1951 following the love of his life, Johanna Van Egmond. He then started their greenhouse business on Trulls Road in Courtice. He was the beloved husband of Johanna for over 60 years. Loving father of Tineke (deceased 2014) & Martin Demmers, John (deceased 1996) & Pat Woodley-Vooys and Lydia Vooys (Rob MacLeod). Loved Opa of Thea (Chad), Basja, Tricia, Kara, Peter, David, Olivia, and great Opa of Matteo and Aidan. The Vooys family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Fosterbrooke for all of their compassion and care for Dick and for them over the last 8 years.
