Obituary of Henriette van den Wildenberg

“Yet” It's not often that we know with such conviction that we are being called to heaven. On Sunday January 20, 2013, surrounded by her family and encircled by the great love of many family members and friends around the world, Henriette van den Wildenberg accepted her personal invitation from God to join him. While on vacation, Henriette suffered a traumatic accident leaving her paralyzed and with many other complications. After a 16-day journey home, a prognosis that was deemed 'grim' at best, and a third cardiac arrest, Henriette opened her heart and mind to God's will. Doctors, nurses and especially family; her father Richard, her siblings Gerard, Corine, Jaci, Monique and Tim were moved by her revelations and her clarity of understanding. Her serenity provided everyone with the calm and peacefulness needed to endure her passing. Henriette crammed more into her 49 years than many people do in a lifetime. Aside from dedicating herself fully to her work, Henriette was an avid skier, snowboarder and motorcycle rider. She traveled extensively across 5 continents, canoed and hiked across many Canadian parks, and ran in short and long distance races as an individual runner or member of a team. She worked out, built things, tended to gardens, fed a flock of birds and made her home her castle. Henriette's motto was “Go for Broke.” She did all of these things in the loving company of her family or friends- life was meant to be shared and she did so with such gusto and enthusiasm that her passing will leave a void for many. "Henriette, your smile, your serenity, and your soul have touched many."
