Gil was a good friend to Cecil and me. We have known him and Joanne for about 28 years. We had many happy times together. They would come and party with us at the trailer in Fenlon Falls. We first met each other when we both worked the flea market in Cobourg, he was selling water systems and I was selling crafts. He always had fun teasing my Cecil about any new toys in the garage. He would say "hey Barb did you see the new tool Cec has bet you didn't know he bought that" Cec would say "don't be telling her that Gil" and they would laugh. My Cecil passed away 10 years ago and I like to think he was at the gates to welcome Gil. I can see them sitting around together laughing and having a beer. I'm going to miss him a lot but we will meet again down that road.

Dear Joanne,
So sorry to hear of Gil's passing. My heart is with you, all my condolences.
Remembered Joy
I could not stay another day,
To love,to laugh,to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy

I remember that he had a great sense of humour.

To my sister, Joanne: True love lives forever beyond the grave. Gil has moved to a different dimension but his love lives in our heart forever. And his sense of humour will surely live on! Please know that I share your sorrow and I am here for you!
Gil loved his family and friends dearly. He will be missed!

Footprints in the Sand
One night I had a dream.
I dreamed I was walking along the beach
with the Lord..
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life..
For each scene, I noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand,
one belonging to me, and the other to the Lord..
When the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life
there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life.
This really bothered me
and I questioned the Lord about it:
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why
when I need you most you would leave me."
The Lord replied:
"My precious child, I love you and would
never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then
that I carried you."

Dearest Joanne,
I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Gil, not just your husband but also your soulmate and best friend.
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
I love you.
