Obituary of Betty Mae Carter

BETTY MAE CARTER Sadness lies deep in our hearts as we announce Mom’s sudden passing on December 8th, 2020 Beloved wife of the late Earl Carter. Loving mother of Sheila (John) Rekker, Earla (David) McKinnell and Cheryl (Steve) Maynard and predeceased by her son Earl (Butch) Carter (1982). She is survived by her 7 grandchildren Shawn (Sharon) Rekker, Jamie (Wannetta) Rekker, Matthew (Sharon) Rundle, Christa (Doug) Strickland, Jason Rundle, Melissa Maynard Dale (Gord) and Vanessa Maynard Wight (Jody). She will be lovingly remembered by her great & great-great grandchildren and her loving furry companion Tuffy. A woman of tenacious spirit, strength and deep abiding love has touched the lives of so many. Mom was a simple woman who quietly loved her husband, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and of course her friends. She worked hard throughout her life as wife and mother raising four children. She survived the loss of her only son and later in life the loss of her husband. But still she moved on and fulfilled her joy of ballroom dancing. So light on her feet – joy oozing from her smile. Her wisdom, love and smile will continue to light up the hearts of many long beyond her life. Goodbye brave and gentle spirit! Special thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for the care and compassion shown to her. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. Bowmanville. Memorial donations may be made to Bowmanville Hospital, the Legion Poppy Fund or Bowmanville Older Adults Association.
