Robert Rhodes

 

Surrounded by love, Bob passed away peacefully at home on Friday November 24^th, 2023 just 10 days after his 70^th birthday

 

Bob was the much loved husband & best friend of Barb McGuey for 36 years.  Loving dad of Shane and Kelly (Rob) and granddad of Natalia, Amelie, Kennedy and Frankie.  He will be sadly missed by his relatives & friends, both here and in Sheffield.

 

He was born in Sheffield England and was an avid soccer player from a very early age.  When he finished school he was scouted by Chelsea to train and eventually play for them.  Life got in the way and he had to pursue a 5 year apprenticeship & then received his millwright certificate.  He never lost his enthusiasm for soccer & every weekend he would be watching all the premier league games.  His favourite team being Sheffield United.

 

Bob had his own corporation for many years and had several major contracts in the GTA working as a Millwright/tool & die for most of the large car companies.

 

A very generous and kind man to all animals & the underprivileged he made many donations to various charities wherever he saw the need.  One of his favourites was HAWS “Help Alberta Wildies Society” in Calgary.  A group determined to fight to save our wild horses.  In lieu of flowers donations to HAWS in his name would be much appreciated, or the Humane Society of your choice.
