Obituary of Monica Louise Cotton

Monica Cotton June 20th 1959- April 1st 2011 It is with great sadness that the Cotton family announces the sudden passing of Monica Louise Cotton in the early hours this past Friday morning April 1st. She was enormously kind and generous and will be sorely missed not only by her family but by the hundreds of lives she touched and transformed by the gift of music she so completely embodied. Over the last three decades Monica has been an integral part of the Arts community in the Durham Region, as music director for Whitby Court House Theatre, Oshawa Little Theatre, Club Lorelei German choir, and as a freelance music educator at The Music Lesson Place and from her home. For over 20 years she was cantor at St. Rose of Lima Catholic and St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Oshawa. For the past several years she has been soprano soloist and alternate organist at Trinity United Church Bowmanville. Monica is survived by her parents Ross and Jean Cotton, younger brothers Lawrence and David, and her four children Megan, Madelyn, Crispin and Kurt Cotton-Kinch and her partner Kent Perry. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY UNITED CHURCH, 120 Church St. Bowmanville on Saturday April 9th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an education fund set up for Crispin and Kurt (ages 16 and 14) at TD Canada Trust (Acct # 05262 004 83786506463), or cheques made payable to F.R. Cotton. Arrangements entrusted to THE NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville. (905) 623-5668.
