Obituary of Gwendolyn Jean Woodward

Gwendolyn "Jean" Woodward

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean (Cain) Woodward on Saturday July 30th, 2022 at her home.

Born March 18, 1928, she was in her 95th year.

Beloved wife of the late Walter “Jit” Woodward and loving mother to Leah and Tom (Roberta).  She will be dearly missed by grandchildren Courtney (Sean), Derrick (Jessica), Jesse (Jessica), Abby and Ally.  Also great grandmother to Noelle and Laura.  Predeceased by her siblings Ray, Peg, Audrey (recently deceased July 7, 2022), Glen and Geraldine.  Sadly missed and adored by her many nieces and nephews.

Jean was born to Alvery Lee Cain and Jennie May Wood on March 18th, 1928 in Burnt River.  The family moved to Lindsay where she met her future husband, Walter “Jit” Woodward.  After they married, Jean and Walter moved to Bowmanville where they lived the rest of their lives.  Jean loved gardening, was an amazing caregiver for her family, and loved throwing parties.  Her favourite pastime was reading The Toronto Star and doing jigsaw puzzles.  Jean adored her five grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
