LARRY JAMES MACDONALD

JANUARY 31^st, 1949 - APRIL 13^th, 2022

Larry James MacDonald, 73, of Bowmanville, Ontario passed away on April 13th, 2022, peacefully at home.

 
Larry was born in Vancouver, BC to Margaret and James MacDonald on January 31st, 1949. He grew up in Richmond, BC with his younger brother, Gordon. Growing up, he was a great big brother to Gordon and always looked out for him. They shared a love for Led Zeppelin and classic rock music. He attended Steveston High School and graduated in 1970. After high school, he worked for several companies including the Royal Bank of Canada for several years and the job led him to a transfer to Montreal, where he would end up meeting his wife, Aurore in 1978. The two were married in 1979 and they moved to BC in 1983 where they had three children, Dawn-Marie, Theresa, and Jeffrey whom he loved very much. The family loved to take trips to Stanley Park, Boundary Bay, White Rock & Crescent Beach. In 1989, he returned to school and earned a Diploma in Computer Information Systems and a Certificate in Local Area Network Administrator from Vancouver Langara College.

 
In 1996, the family moved to Ontario and that is where he would remain for the rest of his life. Larry loved classic rock music, soccer, animals, and the west coast. He enjoyed working on computers and website design. As an animal lover, Larry always considered the many dogs & cats he had over the years to be members of the family. In the last years of his life, his greatest joy came from his grandchildren, Emmett, Ruby, Sebastian, and Finn.

Larry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Aurore, his three children, Dawn-Marie (Chris), Theresa (Alex), and Jeffrey, his four grandchildren, Emmett, Ruby, Sebastian & Finn and his brother, Gordon. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and James MacDonald.

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday April 23^rd at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home in Bowmanville, Ontario. The service will be livestreamed, a link is provided below.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the World Wildlife Fund or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Larry James MacDonald, 73 ans, de Bowmanville, Ontario, est décédé le 13 Avril 2022 paisiblement à la maison.

Larry est né à Vancouver, en Colombie-Britannique, le 31 Janvier 1949 de Margaret et James MacDonald. Il a grandi à Richmond avec son jeune frère, Gordon. En grandissant, il a toujours été là pour son frère. Ils partageaient un amour pour Led Zeppelin et la musique rock classique. Il a fait son secondaire à l’école de Steveston et a obtenu son diplôme en 1970. Après ses études secondaire, il a travaillé pour plusiers compagnies et ainsi pour la Banque Royale du Canada pendant plusieurs années et ce travail l’a amené à être muté à Montréal, où il a renconté sa femme, Aurore, en 1978. Ils se sont mariés en 1979 et en 1983 ils sont retournés en Colombie-Britannique et ont eu trois enfants, Dawn-Marie, Thérésa et Jeffrey qu’il aimait beaucoup. La famille aimait allé au Parc Stanley, Boundary Bay, White Rock et Crescent Beach. En 1989, il est retourné au Collège Langara de Vancouver pour obtenir son Diplôme en Systèmes Informatiques et un Certificat en Administrateur de Réseau Local.

En 1996, la famille a déménagé en Ontario et c’est là qu’il restera pour le reste de sa vie. Larry aimait la musique rock classique, football, les animaux et le côte ouest. Il aimait travailler avec les ordinateurs et créa des sites Web. Il adorait les animaux et Larry a toujours considéré les nombreux chiens et chats qu’il avait au fil des ans comme membres de la famille. Au cours des dernières années de sa vie, sa plus grande joie est venue de ses petits-enfants, Emmett, Ruby, Sebastian et Finn.

Larry laisse dans la deuil sa femme de 43 ans, Aurore, ses trois enfants, Dawn-Marie (Chris), Thérésa (Alex), et Jeffrey, ses quatre petit-enfants, Emmett, Ruby, Sebastian et Finn, et son frère, Gordon. Il est précédé dans la mort par ses parents, Margaret & James MacDonald.

Un service funéraire privé aura lieu le Samedi 23 Avril au Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home à Bowmanville, Ontario. Le service sera diffusé en direct, un lien sera fourni.

Au lieu de fleurs, des dons commémoratifs peuvent être faits au Fond Mondial pour la Nature ou à la Fondation des Maladies du Coeur du Canada.
