Obituary of Roy Hipwell

ROY HIPWELL

1927-2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Hipwell on December 30, 2021 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville at the age of 94.

Beloved husband of Greta, who predeceased him; Roy will be  sadly missed by his two daughters Judith Stevens (Charles) and Jane VandenHeuvel (Denny) and stepson Reinhardt “Ron” Rieger (Kathy), as well as, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In 1957, Roy immigrated to Canada from England to provide a better life for his family.  In the late 60’s, after moving a number of times, he finally bought “a little farm” in Brooklin where he fulfilled his dream of becoming a “hobby farmer”.

At the age of 65 Roy returned to school where he earned his degree in Linguistics from the University of Waterloo.

He will be remembered for his love of languages, classical music and books.

Thank you to the staff at Seasons Clarington Retirement Home for their care and support.  Also, thank you to the palliative care nurses and Dr. Osborne for the loving care , compassion and understanding during his time in hospital.
