Obituary of Mario Canonaco

Surrounded by love, Mario passed away on May 10^th, 2021 at the age of 86 years.

Much loved husband of Esterina (née Zingone).  Loving father of Tony (Gail), Rob (Chris) and Sandy (Luke Carson).  Cherished Nonno to Payton, Chelsea, Sam, Matthew, Riley and Daniella.  Mario is predeceased by his brothers Nicola (Filomena), Giuseppe (Maria), Paolo, sister Angelina and sisters in law Ida (Rocco) and Giulia.  He is survived by his in-laws Antonio (Maria), Nino (Phyllis), Pietro (Carmela), Aldo (Laura), Armando (Carmela), Maria, Francesco, Terenzio, Rosina Zingone and Emidia Longo (the late Pasquale).  He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews and his extensive family in Italy and Argentina and friends from the City of Oshawa.

Mario was an avid gardener and a sports aficionado, especially Serie A, Formula 1, Boxing and any other sport going.  Above all he was a family man, and they will miss him terribly.

Visitation will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St. Bowmanville on Thursday May 13^th, 2021 from 2 – 4:15 pm.  In keeping with COVID-19 regulations attendance will be limited.  Those wishing to attend must RSVP for a timeslot by calling the funeral home (905) 623-5668.  A Private Interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby.  Memorial Donations may be made to The Cancer Society.
