Loinel Dale Foster

October 14, 1936 to February 23, 2021

L. Dale Foster passed away peacefully at home during his sleep.  Dale will be missed by his wife, Marguerite and four sons, Brennan (and wife Peggy) Durham, N.C., Douglas, Salmon Arm, B.C., Matthew, formerly of Omaha, NE, and Kyle Vancouver, B.C. Beloved grandfather of Abigail, Allison and Andrew Foster.

Dale leaves a sister Brenda Bidwell (husband Barry) in Orillia and predeceased by his brother, Donald McPeake and sister Marilyn Thorington. Dale is survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins.

 

Dale was born in Orillia, raised in Toronto, attended the University of Toronto and became a Chartered Accountant. Dale and Marg were  married in 1959. He  had  a  25-year career with Moore Corporation, spending most of their early years in the United States, where they raised their four boys. Dale returned to work in Canada for another 18 years with Fleet Aerospace, before retiring in 2000.  After selling the home in Ridgeway, Ontario they spent a year travelling all around North America in an RV.  Always on the lookout for an active retirement community to enjoy their golden years, Dale and Marg found Wilmot Creek and decided to build their retirement home.  Enjoying 20 wonderful years in Wilmot Creek, where Dale volunteered in the Homeowners Association for ten years and served as WCHA President for two years. Dale loved music and played the piano for many groups including the Moonlighter’s, The Jammers, Bent But Not Broken and Loose Change. His other loves were golf, bridge and snooker.  Dale spent many hours a few times a week in the Wheelhouse Snooker room.

 

Donations in Dale’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre. Dale will be cremated and rest in St. James Cemetery in Orillia.
