Obituary of Ella Schneider

Died peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday February 10, 2019 at the very young age of 98.

Devoted wife forever of the late Viktor.  Best mom to Ralph (Millie), Lilly (Gord) both deceased, Viktoria (Gerry) and Sylvia (Richard).  Always known as Oma to Melissa, Derek (Michelle), April (Mark), Brendenn (Jennifer), Tyler (Holly), Kyle (Samantha), Kristofer (Dana) and Connor.  Great Oma to Danika and Braeden, Carter and Colin, Elliott and Lachlan, Rowan and Everleigh, Lily and Christian.

It has been a long journey for our mother.  Born in Tiflis, Georgia, the revolution saw all people of German heritage ousted out of Russia back to Germany.  From there the family migrated to Canada where first pit stop was Montreal, Courtice, Oshawa, Newcastle and finally for the last 40 years Mom resided in Orono.  She was talented in piano, a wonderful homemaker who could cook gourmet meals from sawdust and a zany sense of humour.  She learned to drive at 58 years of age bought her first car and her solo journey in life began after the death of her Viktor.

It is with sadness yet understanding that we take leave of our mother who for so many years was the dominant matriarch in this family.  She is at peace now and for that we are thankful.  Although her journey in this world has ended, her stories will live on for a very long time.

A private graveside family service will be held at Bowmanville Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life for Mom will be held in Orono, Saturday March 23, 2019 from 1.30 - 4.30 pm at St. Saviours Hall, 23 Mill Street Orono.  We welcome all family and friends at that time for a special tribute to a grand lady.  Memorial Donations may be made to Bowmanville Hospital Foundation.
