Obituary of Clifford Arthur Terrill

Passed away surrounded by his family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday October 15, 2018 at age 94 years.

Beloved husband of 73 years to Eleanor (nee Ransberry).  Loving father of Louise (David) Wilson, Donna Terrill (Gary Musil), Brenda (Keith) Andre and Jay Terrill (Patti McDougall).  Cherished grandpa of Jeff, David, Robin, Joel, Cindy, Kyle, Cavan and Gregor.  Great-grandpa of Mitchell, Abigail, River, Wren, Brayden, Eli, Finn and Tessa and great-great-grandpa of Jessica. There are many step-grandchildren that will also miss their grandpa. Cliff was predeceased by his sisters Ruby & Helen.

Cliff began working at the age of 15. He later trained as a radio operator with the RCAF, he then, tried his hand at various jobs including a few years working for Singer Sewing Machines in Oshawa before spending 30 years as an employee with General Motors.

Cliff and Eleanor spent most of their child-rearing years in Hampton where Cliff volunteered as the superintendent of the Hampton Cemetery Board and in his spare time salvaged lumber from old houses to build a new family home. Anticipating his GM retirement Cliff realized his dream of a hobby farm, then later a country home with a pond in the Kendal area.

Cliff and Eleanor delivered Meals-on-Wheels and were very involved in the Orono United Church where Cliff served as an Elder, Steward and Trustee.

Eleanor and Cliff loved to dance, both square dancing and ballroom and were regulars at ‘The Islander’ and other community hall dances.

Cliff was a gentleman and devoted to his family. He could fix anything or invent something that worked better. He will always live on in our hearts.

The family want to send special thanks to the staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.  Cliff has spent the last 3 months in hospital, and when Eleanor had to be hospitalized recently they went above and beyond, allowing our parents to be together until the very end.
