Obituary of Margaret Metcalf

May 10, 1932- June 26, 2013 Left her family here, and has crossed over to rejoin her son, friends and family gone before us. Beloved wife of Harvey. Proud Mother, loved & respected, cherished role model to Tom (Sharon), the late Brian (Elaine), Robert (Linda), Linda (Rick Smith), and Donna (Willie Woo) and their families. Dear sister of Bud Henning, Marion Malley, Norma Clark, Bill Henning, Don Henning and Connie De Jong. Born in the South Ward to Harold and Hilda Henning, Marg was a familiar face to many southwarders as she delivered papers to many residents in the area. Marg attended Central Public School and Bowmanville High School and at age 14 met the love of her life, Harvey Metcalf. Married July 23, 1949 Marg and Harvey began their life together. After starting their family in Maple Grove, Harvey built a home on his families’ farm and they moved to Baseline to follow the Metcalf lifestyle of farming. Marg nurtured their five children with love and guidance as well as worked outside the home once the youngest was in school. Marg gained employment at the Bowmanville Cleaners, Hancs French Fries, and later, Hancs Restaurant as the “take out lady”. Marg and Harvey found retirement in 1989 and were able to enjoy many travels throughout Canada and the USA. Marg always enjoyed her growing family of 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren- baking for them, cross stitching table cloths, knitting, spending time watching them grow and always allowing them to bend her ear. A very special lady that will be deeply missed by friends and family.
