Obituary of Frank Rupert Mohun

FRANK RUPERT MOHUN Passed away at the age of 84 on Wednesday February 8th, 2017 He was the beloved husband of the late Marielle Mohun, for 25 years. Frank was born in Bowmanville, and was the adopted son of John & Undine Mohun. Frank was previously married to the late Shirely Hall, mother of Bill (Mahesh), Leslie (Floyd Wood) and Scott (Chantelle). He was previously married to Rhoda Will. Grandfather of Tammy, Tegan, Jenna, Robyn, Kayce and Siera. Step-father of Susan (deceased), Mariette (John Foxcroft), Anne (Larry Drake, deceased), Michael (Helen Bahor) and Andrew (Mary Bahor). Special “dad” to Rob Will (Tammy, children Leah & Shannon). Step-grandfather of Jason, Shannon, Donny, Kyle, Lea, Amanda, Jerrick & Nicholas. Frank worked at Goodyear, Metropolitan Life and for 29 years in Engineering at General Motors. He also maintained a position as Sports Editor at the Canadian Statesman for fourteen years, and CKLB Sports for seven years. Also worked part-time at the Globe & Mail and Canadian Press covering mainly local sports; Oshawa Generals, Toronto Maple Leafs, Expo and Olympics. Frank was a member of the Clarington Sports Hall of Fame (Class of 2014). He was very active in sports, daily skiing, golf (he had five holes in one), tennis and swimming. Previously he also played fastball, baseball, basketball, enjoyed skating, hockey, hockey refereeing, bowling, table tennis, badminton, squash and curling. He loved dancing and entertainment, particularly Broadway Musicals and name headliners. He travelled extensively with his wife Marielle, travelling many places more than once. Trips included: India, Nepal, Cuba, Iceland, Africa, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, New Guinea, Fiji, Tahiti, Singapore, Philippines, Mexico, Central America, South America, Europe, British Isles, Scotland, Ireland, Israel, Russia, Jordan, Turkey, Canada and every state in the United States, in total travelling to 121 countries, and going on 18 cruises. Visitation will be held at NORTHCUTT ELLIOTT FUNERAL HOME, 53 Division St., Bowmanville, for visitation on Sunday February 12th from 3 – 5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH on Monday February 13th at 10 am. Cremation will follow, with burial being held at Resurrection Cemetery, Whitby. Memorial Donations may be made to The Cancer Society.
