Age 82 years Passed away on April 1, 2010. He had been very ill and in the hospital for several months. It was his and Mom/Oma’s desire for him to come home, so on the morning of April 1st he came back to the house which he had built with his own hands as a young man, and had moved into with his young bride and their first baby in 1954. Shortly after coming back home, with his bride at his side, he closed his eyes a final time on earth, and in her words, went home for the second time that day. Beloved husband of Antoinette for 57 years. Dear father of Willem (Grace) Koene; Coba Koene; Jake (Jane) Koene; Bob Koene; Albert (Annette) Koene; Isaac Koene (Sheryl Hunter); Antoinette Koene (Robert Konopasek); Piet (Rosa) Koene; Miriam (Laura) Bonnett-Koene; Job (Lyndsay) Mollins Koene and David (Elizabeth) Guillaume -Koene. Cherished Opa of Elisa (Gregory) Koene-Tremblay, Christopher (Sarah), Judith (Daniel) Henderson, Anita (Michael) Soots, Sara, Catherine, Miriam, Jordanne, Hayley, Isaac, Johannes, Piet-Albert, Damian, Sean, Christian, Amanda, Job, David and great-Opa of Zachary, Samuel, Isabella and Acacia. Dear brother of Jacob Koene; Betty & Fred Feikema and Jannie (John) Visser. A Special Thank you to Rev. Smeding for his care. Visitation will be held at REHOBOTH CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 130 Scugog St. Bowmanville, on Thursday April 8, 2010 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm.
